9/30/2005 - Yellowstone National Park If you plan to visit Yellowstone, I recommend you do it in the fall. Most of the crowds are gone and the weather, although a bit unpredictable, is temperate. The elk population was in rut, which set up some unbelievable photo opportunities. During September, at least during my visit, I was able to photograph a variety of animals that included moose, bison, grizzly bear, elk, deer, and antelope; several waterfalls that included the Lower Falls, Undine Falls, and Moose Falls; some breath-taking scenery and several geysers. I hope you enjoy the gallery.
7/30/2005 - African Safari During July, I had the opportunity to take part in an African Safari where all the shooting was done with cameras. I have posted some of the 5200 pictures that I accumulated during that trip on this site. Many of the wildlife pictures were from the Serengeti National Park, which is the oldest and largest National Park in Tanzania. The Serengeti is world-renowned for one of the most breathtaking events in the animal kingdom - the annual wildebeest migration. The great Migration in the Serengeti is a mass exodus of 1.5 million wildebeest together with half a million zebra, which follow a 500-mile route from Tanzania to Kenya and back to Tanzania, culminating in the Southern Serengeti. By the time I had arrived in late July, much of the migration had already occurred but there was still plenty to see within the national park including zebra, wildebeest, impala, gazelle, lions, hyena, cheetah, hippopotamus, giraffe, jackal, a variety of birds, and of course elephants as well as a host of other animals. In addition to the visiting the Serengeti, I visited the city of Arusha and the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is reported to be the largest Caldera in the world and the floor of the crater lies 610 meters below the rim. The crater was alive with Zebra, wildebeest, lions and an occasional cheetah. I was fortunate to be traveling with a group of exceptional people during my adventure to Africa and I would like to dedicate my African gallery to them: Chris and Michelle, Dave and Sandi, Nick and Julie, Paul and Pam, Jack and Lindy, and Tom and Erika. Thanks for a wonderful time!!!!
